The Jaguar was a joint development between the British and French Goverments in 1965, overseen by SEPECAT (Societe Europeenne de Production de l’Avion d’Ecole de Combat et d’Appui Tactique), the first British prototype, S-06 (XW560) was tested in late 1969.

Although still used in parts of the world today (Oman - India) it has been removed from the British and French airforces after the aircraft entered into service in 1974.

The Sepecat Jaguar is an Anglo-French attack aircraft that was introduced in 1973. Jaguars served with the Royal Air Force (RAF) from 1974, until 2007. RAF Jaguars saw active service during the Gulf War. Operation Granby was the name given to the British military operations in the Persian Gulf from 1990 to 1991, that were precipitated by theIraqi invasion of Kuwait in August 1990.

The operation was named after John Manners, Marquess of Granby who had commanded British forces at the Battle of Minden (1759) during the Seven Years' War.
