'Tolly Hello' - 'Pauline'

Spitfire MK IXc Senior Test Pilot - Lt Col Gustav Lundquist, Flight Test Section, Wright Field 1944 MK210 'Tolly Hello' (Long Range Experimental)

This model shows a MK IXc, MK210, that was trialled with Mustang-type 62-gallon tanks beneath the wings, a 43-gal tank in the rear fuselage, and 16.5-gal flexible tanks in each wing. It was flown to Wright Field in the States, via Iceland, in 1944.

Spitfire MK VIII, This Spitfire was with No.2 Sqn from 20 Jan 46, and was written off on 29th Jan 1947, when P/O Pat Callaghan belly landed the aircraft in Kohat airfield. The aircraft engine had caught fire after an oil leak in circuit.
