High quality WWII nose art
Welcome to KITS-WORLD!
New Releases - Available Now!

Kitsworld has been established by enthusiasts who have been frustrated by the predictable subject matter and poorly rendered artwork generally supplied by kit and decal manufacturers in the past. Our goal is to provide the modeller with a wide range of colourful, interesting and well-realised subjects initially covering the seemingly inexhaustible field of aircraft nose art. Being artists ourselves, we feel we have the eye and ability to carefully interpret the original artwork as it appeared on the actual aircraft to give the modeller the best reproduction possible to better represent the original artist's work.

As with all of the decal sheets produced by Kitsworld, we have not sought to 're-invent the wheel' by producing all of the markings carried by each aircraft. These days they are quite adequately supplied by the kit manufacturers and many other decal suppliers. This enables us to put a greater number of artworks on each sheet giving the modeller more choice and better value for money.

The projects we have chosen to produce are the ones we feel will prove popular, eye-catching, well rendered by the original artist and have a reasonably good source of reference. All of which, we hope, will avoid any flak from disgruntled modellers; of course, there is always someone somewhere who knows better! However, we do welcome input from informed sources where it helps us to produce a better product.

We also welcome inquiries regarding future projects - if you have a favourite scheme or theme you think will have a broad appeal, please let us know and we will see if it can be added to our future releases. Please email us

Who are we? What are we about?
Kitsworld has been established by enthusiasts who have been frustrated by the predictable subject matter and poorly rendered artwork generally supplied by kit and decal manufacturers in the past. Where we began
Our initial range focuses on the increasingly more popular range of WWII 1:32 scale models - the market for the large scale P47 and P51 has never been better supplied, with Dragon and Trumpeter producing highly detailed examples of both aircraft including the earlier P51B/C, previously only available in this scale by Revell. Hasegawa also have a new Thunderbolt model available in this scale along with a now old but still quite presentable P51D. Kitsworld Decal sheets feature some well known and many previously neglected but nonetheless stunning Nose Art illustrations, which appeared on the Mustang and Thunderbolt aircraft of the Eighth Air Force.Kitsworlds' first release has a couple of beautiful artworks which appeared on Captain Charles Weaver's Mustangs, the sort of Pin-ups you would expect to see on an aircraft of this period. Other sheets include some of the excellent renderings of the female form painted by Crew Chief/Staff Sergeant Don E. Allen, widely regarded as one of the premier Nose Artists of the period. Many of these are surprisingly tastefully reproduced renderings of the pilots' wives or sweet-hearts. A couple of the featured artworks are animal cartoons, one a very well known example Shangri La which adorned Captain Don Gentile's P51B (at the time he crashed it!). The large scale of these models allows the artwork thus depicted to be better appreciated, showing the Nose Art to be displayed to better effect. These sheets include nose art for the P51B/C, Mustang MKIII, P51D and the 11 ton monster P47D. The big scale market has never been better served! Moving onwards!

That said, we do appreciate that not everyone has the space (or the money!) to display these relatively large models. Although these decals have been well received, we have been asked on many occasions whether we have any plans to reproduce similar decal sheets in the more popular scales of 1:48 and 1:72. These of course are a good deal smaller and so do not give the visual impact that the larger model does but, due to the superb sharpness and fine registration available form our modern and widely regarded print supplier, all is not lost. Recent advances in printing techniques allow for even the smallest details to be accurately and finely rendered giving very pleasing results on small scale projects. We will be releasing some of our decals - previously only available in 1:32 scale for the P51 Mustang in the popular scale of 1:72 - more affordable and easier to display. Additionally being produced is an extensive range of decals for that master of the skies, the Boeing B17 Flying Fortress. This was one of the most widely produced aircraft of the Second World War period, production running to over 10,000! This was a BIG aircraft and offered the perfect canvas for the Nose Artist. There is a huge amount of reference available for this subject which has allowed us to produce two comprehensive sheets for starters of decals for this aircraft featuring the more widely used B17G with a couple of ‘F's thrown in for good measure. The first features 9 artworks for aircraft of the 303rd Bomb Group. The second set includes artwork for 11 aircraft from 3 Bomb Groups, the 91st, 100th and 381st, all reproduced to capture the visual impact of the original artwork. These sheets will also include some of the individual identification symbols, numbers and letters particular to each machine/artwork combination. Also, to allow for greater flexibility and choice on the part of the modeller we are also producing generic sheets of numbers, letters and symbols used by B17s of the Eighth Air Force. These will enable the modeller to reproduce any of a wide number of aircraft by combining items from these sheets to model the aircraft of choice. Similar sheets will also be available for the P51 Mustang, all in 1:72 scale. All together these sheets will feature the lettering/numbering styles most commonly used on both natural metal and camouflage finishes. As an additional bonus, many of these sheets will feature various styles of Bomb Tallies and Kill Markings regularly used on the bombers and fighters. These are bound to prove a popular addition to our range giving additional scope to produce the subject of your choice.

Intermediate scale projects
The B17 will also feature on our initial release of decals for 1:48 scale models. These sheets (also available in our range of 1:72 scale decals) will feature four complete sets of decals (2 per sheet) for the B17F/G. The first sheet includes artwork for American Beauty and Little Miss Mischief, the second, My Devotion and the Milt Caniff classic, A Bit o' Lace. Although the last named has been reproduced by numerous other kit/decal manufacturers, we feel none has so far done this stunning artwork justice - our version has been researched and referenced against actual pictures of the aircraft and Milton Caniff's original artwork personally supplied to the flight crew of this aircraft. The artwork was then interpreted and reproduced by armourer Nicholas H Fingelly, who quite rightly gave Milt due credit as the originator of the character/artwork by reproducing Milt's signature as well! As you will see, this is a highly detailed artwork which we feel really does the original justice and showcases our intentions as quality suppliers of excellence perfectly. The other 1:48 scale sheet we are offering at present is for the awesome Night Fighter flown by the USAAF - the purpose designed Northrop P61 Black Widow. This might seem an odd choice - until you see the quality of the artwork displayed on the side of the nose of this impressive machine. The P61 offered a relatively large area for the prospective Nose Artist and was used to great effect. The overall quality of these artworks is all the more impressive when you realise the artwork was applied by different artists in entirely different theatres of operations, the European and the Far East.

The Future
As mentioned earlier, Kitsworld are constantly looking to improve and expand our range to offer the modeller more choice, outstanding quality and great value for money. The WWII period is popular and has an endless source of material for future projects but we realise that it is not everybody's bag. The conflicts of the recent past and indeed present have revived the art of Nose Art!The recent conflicts in the Gulf and Afghanistan have provided a new and fertile ground for the revival of this popular and morale-boosting calling. The world of kit manufacturers have not been slow to spot an opportunity and many new and revised kit toolings are becoming available - an opportunity that we will not miss either - watch this space!
