Kitsworld Kitsworld USAAF Cocarde/'Star & Bars' Set- 1/72 Scale Decal Sheet KW172021 Set of 'standard' cocarde markings. 1921 - 1946 Kitsworld USAAF Cocarde/"Star & Bars" Set- 1/72 Scale Decal Sheet
KW172021 Set of 'standard' cocarde markings. 1921 - 1946

This handy water slide decal sheet provides the modeller with a comprehensive set of 'standard' cocarde markings for pre-war, wartime and immediate post-war period Fighter and Bomber aircraft. You will note that each cocarde has a number by it - this
represents the actual size of the marking in good old-fashioned inches, as they were actually applied by ground crew-factories.
They cover the period from 1921 with the star-in-a-circle with the red centre spot, right th rough to the familiar 'star & bar' marking used till a little after the war ended. These are intended to complement the subjects previously covered by KitsWorld but
can be used on any contempory aircraft covered by the time-span of this set. We have also provide a positional guide to enable the modeller to correctly position the markings and use markings of the correct size, although of course, this was not always
adhered to due to combat situations despite what officialdom stipulated!

RAF Serial Numbers

In peacetime this number was applied to both sides at the rear of the fuselage, the undersurfaces of the main plane and on the rudder. The outbreak of war saw the removal of the underwing and rudder markings from all operational aircraft, except on training aircraft.

The fuselage Serial Number was common to all aircraft, and was to be 8" high, with no individual character wider than 5 inches. The stroke of the character being 1 inch. The serial number was specified by the AM, and painted on during production by the aircraft manufacturer and typestyles varied.

We offer on this sheet a selection of popular type styles.
